"textContent": "I’d like Codex in VS Code to support opening the session in an editor tab (or detachable window), similar to how Claude Code can open as a tab in the editor area.\n\nCurrent behavior:\n\n * Codex opens as a Sidebar view container.\n\n * It can be moved between Primary Side Bar, Secondary Side Bar, and Panel.\n\n * It cannot be opened as an editor tab in the top tab row.\n\n\n\n\nWhy this matters:\n\n * Multi-monitor workflows are much better when the AI session can live in a separate VS Code window/tab area.\n\n * Sidebar/panel layouts are workable but less ergonomic for long coding sessions.\n\n\n\n\nRequested behavior:\n\n * Add an option like “Open Codex in Editor Tab” (and ideally support detaching to another window).\n\n * Preserve session continuity between sidebar and tab view.\n\n\n\n\nEnvironment:\n\n * VS Code: 1.122.1\n\n * Codex extension: 26.527.31454\n\n * OS: Windows 11\n\n\n\n\nThis would significantly improve Codex usability for power users and multi-monitor setups.\n\nThank you for considering this!",
