Codex approval requests should trigger push notifications
This is feedback about the Codex agent in ChatGPT, especially approval requests and mobile push notifications.
Codex approval requests are currently too easy to miss.
When Codex needs user approval, the approval button can appear small and low on the screen. There is no sufficiently visible notification that the task is blocked and waiting for user action.
This is especially important now that Codex remote access is available from the ChatGPT mobile app. One of the main values of mobile Codex is being able to review outputs, steer execution, and approve next steps while away from the desktop.
If approval requests are blocking states, they should trigger clear push notifications on mobile.
Suggested improvements:
* Send a push notification when Codex is waiting for approval
* Show a persistent “Waiting for approval” state in the task/thread list
* Add a visible in-app badge for blocked Codex tasks
* Make the approval button visually prominent
* Include what action needs approval in the notification text
* Allow users to configure notification preferences for approval requests
Without this, users may think Codex is still working or has stalled, when it is actually waiting for approval.
Approval requests are not passive updates. They are user-blocking events and should be treated as high-priority notifications.
