Hi folks, I can see why this feels disruptive, especially if you rely on comparing different response versions often. A few people noticed the same thing after recent UI changes.
Here’s what we found after checking further:
The branch chats weren’t removed, but the way to access them now depends on the browser/UI version.
- In Google Chrome: after editing a prompt, you should still see the old
<1/2>style toggle for switching between versions. - In browsers like Microsoft Edge: the flow changed a bit. Instead of the arrows, you’ll see “Branch to a new conversation.”
When you use that option:
- the edited response gets added as a new branch right below
- your original thread is still preserved
- you can return to older versions anytime from the Recents panel on the left sidebar, where the edited thread usually appears labeled as “Branch”
This definitely isn’t as obvious as the old version arrows, agreed. The functionality is still there, but the UI behavior is inconsistent across browsers right now.
