Well I tested it and yes, Codex did rewrite the original image prompt into a more detailed final-generation prompt. In my case, the rewritten prompt was saved as an artifact in .codex/prompts/dolphin. I didn’t find a raw session transcript, but I did find the generated final prompt, so the answer to your question is yes, at least for me.
