Mobile Projects UX Improvement: Display Current Chat Name Alongside Project Name
OpenAI Developer Community
May 11, 2026
Hello OpenAI team,
I would like to suggest a UX/UI improvement for the ChatGPT mobile app regarding the Projects feature.
Currently, when accessing a chat inside a Project, the mobile interface only displays the Project name at the top of the screen.
Example: “I´M A PROMPTER”
However, the specific chat name is not displayed, even though the Project may contain many chats organized by different subjects.
In practical use, this creates a contextual navigation issue, especially for users who use Projects as:
structured workspaces
AI study environments
prompt engineering systems
knowledge bases
specialized agent workflows
When a Project contains many conversations, it becomes difficult to quickly identify which chat the user is currently interacting with.
This may lead to:
loss of context
navigation confusion
reduced productivity
increased cognitive load
accidental interaction in the wrong chat
Suggested improvement:
Display both:
Project name
Current chat name
Possible examples:
I´M A PROMPTER > LLMs famosos
or
Project: I´M A PROMPTER Chat: LLMs famosos
or
← I´M A PROMPTER / LLMs famosos
Although visually simple, this improvement could significantly enhance contextual awareness and usability for advanced users managing Projects with multiple chats.
I attached an image example to demonstrate the current interface behavior.
Thank you for your work and continuous improvements to the platform.
