"FAQ: Getting started with the OpenAI API: Quickstart, billing, verification, prepayment, credits, ‘429’ errors"
],
"textContent": "You can contact via help.openai.com. The result will be automated “can’t help with verification, you can’t retry, sorry”, as universally reported.\n\nYou are also not alerted why there was “failure”, or if you 90 days was consumed. Your video of yourself didn’t look right, or you are a banned individual in a forbidden nation-state: you don’t know, and don’t get to tune up your attempts.\n\nThey also don’t tell you that your information is directly fed to the executive branch of the US government via their identity company Persona. FinCEN → Treasury → Cabinet … (DOGE backdoors) besides other sketchy motivations of that company and motivations of OpenAI executives to use them.\n\nA credit purchase is not required before beginning the verification process. I wrote up a cautionary tale, usually discovered too late, with the order of steps that would prevent sending unusable money, especially if your use of the API depends on verification-gated products: FAQ: Getting started with the OpenAI API: Quickstart, billing, verification, prepayment, credits, ‘429’ errors\n\nNot everything needs ID verification, still giving opportunity to spend your credits, but there are peculiar limits that prove the process is for forcing you to perform it rather than for any safety. OpenAI seems to have destroyed the help page that told you what was limited without verification - bizarre things like not being able to stream the output of particular AI models.\n\nAnother strategy is to have another person’s API account join your organization as owner by invite, and then that person can attempt a verification.\n\nPlease don’t explode.",
