Giving up on Realtime - Mini

I cannot spend more time (And tokens) trying to fix the mini model.

So I am giving up on it for the time being until we see a new Realtime 1.5 Mini. In the meantime, here is a constructive list of issues I want to share regarding the Realtime Mini Model.

This is a list of issues that the mini model is doing:

1. The Mini can detect a pattern, example it can detect that I am scamming it - but it doesnt action on it - Random Tool calling failure.

2. The mini model can be used for games, learning, and playing around. But when it comes to serious stuff (especially calls where you need to defend against token wasting) the money you save from the mini, you end up paying it by the mini answering completely off topic requests. Example: I am luxury real estate brand in Dubai specializing in real estate projects, contracts and contracts. I ask the MINI model if it wants to make a nice pizza with me, and the mini goes in and engages with the caller on how to make the pizza and if it can help buy the ingredients. It’s somewhat embarrassing to put this live.

3. Ignores scope boundaries (Following the realtime API Guidelines). I say the biggest issue is that the mini engages with unrelated requests.

4. The mini is unable to count. So a prompt that says “allow max 2 tries and then call off topic” that works perfectly in the realtime model, the mini cannot do.

This means that the one realtime prompting guideline does not apply fully to the mini.

My Clevel are pushing me to decide if I should make a system prompt for the mini and another for the realtime. But that means I need to support and maintain numerous system prompts per role which is not sustainable.

I would say the mini does 60% of what the realtime does. But that does not cut it.

For the time being, I have no option but to accept temporary defeat - I cannot leave the mini model in the product. Users will use it to save costs and it will give a bad impression.

Any tips will be greatly appreciated but I am not sure if there is something that can be done.

Do you have any news you can share with me on whether there will be a new Realtime 1.5 mini model and when should we expect it? You can definitely count on me to try this immediately.
