Subject: Suggestion for Time-Aware Conversation Context
Hello Team,
I’d like to suggest an improvement to how conversation context is handled in ChatGPT.
Currently, the system treats past conversations as a continuous flow, even when there are significant gaps (days or weeks) between them. From a user’s perspective, this can feel inaccurate, because during that time the user may have had many new experiences, changing preferences, or evolving context that the system is not aware of.
For example, a discussion from an earlier date is treated as if it directly continues into a later one, even though the user’s situation or interests may have changed in between. This can lead to recommendations or responses that feel outdated or misaligned.
Suggested Improvements:
* Introduce time-gap awareness between conversations
* Prompt users with a quick “context update” if a long gap is detected
* Option to start a fresh session while still referencing older chats when needed
* Allow users to enable an optional “time-aware memory mode”
This would make interactions feel more natural, realistic, and personalized over time, especially for users who return after breaks.
Thank you for considering this suggestion.
