"textContent": "Wanted to add an updated note here since this thread still comes up when people search for folder extensions.\n\nThe multi-device limitation vlasky mentioned is still a real problem with most extensions, they store folder data locally in the browser, so switching PCs breaks the structure. No extension has properly solved this yet.\n\nAs of early 2026, the extension landscape for this has also gotten messier. Several options that were recommended in 2024 have since gone inactive, with low user counts (under 60), no updates, and in a couple of cases the extension websites themselves are down. Worth checking the “Last updated” date on any Chrome Store listing before installing.\n\nFor anyone still looking: the most honest answer right now is that no third-party extension fully replicates what a native folder system would do, especially across devices. The workaround that holds up best is ChatGPT’s own Projects feature for grouping related conversations, not perfect, but server-side and device-independent.\n\nI looked into this in detail recently while writing about the current state of folder extensions, happy to share specifics if useful.",
