Timestamps for chats in ChatGPT

Feature request: optional inline message timestamps in ChatGPT

I need an optional timestamp that can be inserted or displayed at message creation time inside the conversation itself, and preserved in exports.

Why this matters:

• authorship trail for long project development

• easier forensic dating of ideas and revisions

• less dependence on manual copy/paste workarounds

• better retrieval and citation later

Current pain point: I tried to create timestamps manually across Apple devices and found that neither Apple text replacement nor ChatGPT itself provides a fast, reliable inline solution. This creates needless friction for serious long-form project work.

Requested implementation:

• optional per-message timestamp display

• optional “insert timestamp” command/button in the compose box

• preserve timestamps in exports and shared conversations
