When adding payment method, OpenAI charged my card but credit balance not updated

It’s that $5 auth hold they do to check the card works - it’s not actual credits being added, just a temp charge that should drop off in a few days (up to a week sometimes). Check your billing > credit grants or whatever, nothing shows there cause it’s not a real top-up.
