"textContent": "\"Whatever happens, you always have us.\" Umbrella Entertainment has unveiled the official Kiwi trailer for I, Object, a coming-of-age indie drama from New Zealand opening this winter down there. It's opening in July but it doesn't have any US release set yet - hopefully sometime not too long after this opening. I, Object is written and directed by acclaimed sci-fi filmmaker Andrew Niccol, director of Gattaca, S1m0ne, Lord of War, In Time, The Host, Good Kill, and Anon – his latest film from back in 2018. This heartfelt film follows Tom, a 10-year-old boy with a vivid imagination who sees faces in everyday objects. After the sudden death of his father, Tom retreats into a fantastical world they once shared, connecting with all these items around him! Starring Bentley Storteboom as Tom, with Skywalker Hughes, Anna Faris, Tom Kerr, & Karl Urban. This also reminds me of that IF: Imaginary Friends movie with a somewhat similar concept about a kid finding comfort in befriending all these objects. Niccol giving us a family friend film this time around.
