We are thrilled to invite you to Community Waves, our alternative social media platform!\n\nTired of big tech companies undermining our digital well-being, nasty algorithms, and persistent ads? So were we. That's why we've been building this new, open-source platform – a space owned by the community, for the community.\n\n****Community Waves is a dedicated free, ethical online space for those involved in community-led change to connect, organise, and learn****. It emerged from real needs and desires from the Transition community and now it’s open to changemakers all over the world.\n\nHosted by Transition Network international (TNi), Community Waves offers some **key features and benefits** :\n\n  * It uses open source software (built with HumHub)\n  * It is powered by green energy\n  * Adverts-free\n  * No nasty algorithms in the house\n  * Not owned by questionable tech billionaires or big corporations\n  * User-friendly and responsive\n  * Network building: follow, connect and message other users\n  * You can write or read in your preferred language simultaneously thanks to an automated translations plug-in. No more language barriers!\n  * Public and private spaces, organised by topics and community type\n  * Supported by actual humans – got an issue or a question? Sam, Pame or Dan are around to help\n  * Improving as we go – your feedback is actually considered and it helps improving the platform and its tools\n\n\n\nThis alternative social media platform is easy to use, with accessibility features built-in, and has a similar look and feel to Facebook. There’s a direct messaging feature, a shared calendar, a members map, and more!\n\nYou won’t find algorithm-driven feeds, but an intentional space for the community to cultivate depth of connection.\n\nLately, our space has been buzzing with real conversations. Members are sharing project updates, workshopping challenges, and celebrating wins together. The discussions have been wide-ranging: we've explored facilitation techniques and educational approaches, dug into regenerative ways of communicating across organizations, and shared local strategies for responding to the rise of violent groups in our communities.
