"textContent": "At 0107 WAT it took me quite an effort to keep my eyes open. It’s been a while that I’ve stayed up late to watch something. But what a sensation of joy was it to see the capsule beautifully make it’s way into earth and splashdown into the Pacific Ocean. The amount of math, engineering and science to send 4 humans ~250,000 mi away from earth and bring them back safely, enduring 5000F of re-entry temps! What an amazing milestone we’re at! When viewed from the vagaries of say about 100B$ and the geopolitical drama and onslaught that the world is drowning in; this might seem like a miniscule achievement. But It’s been a while that we’ve seen humanity do something so freaking exciting and tangible. We direly need more of such cool scientific movements. Times, that we are in now, calls for audacious and risky experiments in realms that we have not played in before. If anything, just to prove that this is what _also_ makes us humans.\n\nI also spent an hour or so watching _Nowhere Special_. It’s been on my list for a while. I should be quite honest - This was a difficult watch, but I am so glad I did. How do you explain death to a toddler? I usually am pretty good with watching serious media but I really needed to watch something else after this. The Artemis 2 splashdown was just the right closure for the night.\n\nIt’s been a very productive work-week. I depressed the urge to work over Saturday and took a down-day. Everything that I really wanted to accomplish in this TDY trip is quite done and I am definitely coming down with something. Some forced rest should definitely help! I’m also cognitively trying to flip these TDY trips to just weekdays so I can spend the weekends with M&S. Unless really necessary and if I’m able to work the flight schedules, I don’t see a reason why this should not be possible.\n\nThe more I dig into it, the more I see that I am aligned to the Boglehead’s philosophy. Over this first quarter I’ve consciously moved my safety-net funds to the Vanguard money-market. I’ve made (and recovered from) some not-so-smart financial decisions in my 20s. In hindsight, I think those were necessary in fine-tuning how I look at investments now.\n\n🔗",
