What to Play This Weekend: June 4

I'm in New York City this week, and the thing I remember most about my time here is the nights: those hazy evenings when the weather is warm, and it seems like the world is completely in the right place. It is truly a type of madness, a delirium, wrought purely by youth, altered states, and the cultural collision attendant on cities of any shape or size. Dance parties are a natural, emergent expression of the urban environment.

While my late nights now manifest for different reasons as a father, I fondly remember Darkstar at Berlin's Berghain at 3 A.M., Daft Punk closing out Coney Island, and any number of sweaty juke joints I found myself in my 20s. So this week's Playlist pick had me feeling some kind of way about capturing the intimacy and ecstasy of the party, but against the backdrop of finding joy when there is simply too much sorrow.
