"textContent": "ISLAMABAD: Electricity consumers across Pakistan, including Karachi, may face an increase of Rs0.82 per unit as the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) is set to hear a petition on Tuesday seeking a monthly fuel cost adjustment for May.\n\nThe request was filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), which has proposed an increase of 82 paisas per unit. If approved, the adjustment is expected to impose an additional financial burden of nearly Rs12 billion on electricity consumers.\n\nAccording to the petition, Pakistan generated 12.638 billion units of electricity during May at an average fuel cost of Rs9.25 per unit, compared with the reference fuel cost of Rs8.43 per unit used for tariff calculations.\n\nThe CPPA said 33.27 per cent of electricity generated during the month came from hydropower, while 11.66pc was produced using local coal. Imported coal accounted for 13.54pc of generation, followed by 8.31pc from local gas and 0.16pc from furnace oil.\n\nNepra will review the data submitted by the CPPA before issuing its decision on the proposed fuel cost adjustment.\n\nThe post Power tariff may rise by Rs0.82 per unit as Nepra takes up fuel cost adjustment appeared first on HUM News English.",
