"textContent": "ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has called for constitutional supremacy on the 73rd birth anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.\n\nThe anniversary is being observed with simplicity across the country out of reverence for the Islamic month of Muharram, party officials said.\n\nPPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari led the tributes to his mother, stating that the party remains firmly anchored in her foundational philosophy of public empowerment, federalism, and defence of the marginalised.\n\nHe emphasised that her lifelong struggle against authoritarianism continues to serve as the definitive roadmap for the country's democratic progression.\n\nSenate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani described the late prime minister as a luminous symbol of democracy, public rights and the supremacy of the constitution.\n\n\"Benazir Bhutto Shaheed waged a historic struggle for democratic stability and public service,\" Gilani said, adding that her life and eventual martyrdom reflected profound Islamic and democratic values.\n\nHe reiterated that the state's legislative and executive organs must carry her vision forward to ensure public welfare and institutional harmony.\n\nIn Sindh, provincial ministers highlighted Benazir Bhutto's landmark initiatives as the first female prime minister of the Muslim world.\n\nPPP Parliamentarians spokesperson Shazia Marri noted that Bhutto refused to bow to dictatorships, ultimately sacrificing her life for the restoration of a federal Pakistan.\n\n\"Her political journey remains a guiding light for the people of Pakistan to achieve a dignified global identity,\" Marri stated.\n\nSindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon detailed the structural reforms introduced during Benazir Bhutto's tenures, which focused heavily on women, peasants, and the working class.\n\nMemon credited the late Benazir Bhutto with establishing groundbreaking institutions, including the First Women Bank and specialised women-run police stations.\n\nHe highlighted the launch of the Lady Health Workers (LHW) programme, which transformed rural healthcare infrastructure across Pakistan.\n\nMemon and Sindh Local Government Minister Nasir Hussain Shah both noted that while party founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto secured Pakistan's nuclear deterrence, Benazir Bhutto revolutionised national defense by introducing advanced missile technology.\n\n\"The synthesis of Bhutto’s nuclear vision and Benazir's missile technology has rendered Pakistan’s defense permanently impregnable,\" Memon said.\n\nSindh Culture Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah remarked on Benazir Bhutto’s international stature, stating that she effectively projected Pakistan's progressive, peaceful cultural identity on the global stage.\n\n\"Her paradigm of reconciliatory politics and diplomatic negotiation has effectively become a part of international political curricula,\" Shah said, describing her as an enduring voice for the oppressed worldwide.\n\nSindh Government spokesperson Sadia Javed said that the current provincial administration remains fully engaged in executing welfare policies aligned with her vision, particularly regarding the protection of fundamental labor and peasant rights.\n\nThe post PPP calls for ‘constitutional supremacy’ on 73rd birth anniversary of Benazir Bhutto appeared first on HUM News English.",
