Precision strikes along Pak-Afghan border target militant hideouts, kill 26: security sources
WEB DESK: Security sources said on Wednesday that precision and calibrated strikes were carried out along Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan targeting alleged hideouts and safe havens of militants identified as belonging to “Fitna al Khwarij”, in response to recent terrorist incidents in the country.
The strikes reportedly followed a series of attacks, including an assault on a Federal Constabulary post in Musa Darra on 9 June 2026, a vehicle-borne suicide attack on a military post in North Waziristan on 2 June 2026, and an attack on a police station in Bannu on 9 May 2026.

Officials said the operations were conducted on the basis of credible intelligence and involved “selective targeting” of camps and infrastructure linked to suspected planners and facilitators.
Intelligence-based operations and targeted facilities
According to security sources, at least four targets were destroyed during the operations, including a training centre, a hideout, an ammunition cache and “marakiz” allegedly associated with commanders identified as Aleem Khan Khushali and Akhtar Muhammad Jani Khel. It was claimed that 26 militants were killed in the strikes.
Officials described the action as precise and intelligence-driven, aimed at avoiding collateral damage while targeting high-value locations linked to militant activity along the border regions.
Counter-terrorism drive under Azm-e-Istehkam
Security sources said Pakistan continues to pursue its counter-terrorism campaign under the national framework “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
They reiterated that while Pakistan remains committed to regional peace and stability, safeguarding citizens and eliminating militancy remains the state’s foremost priority.
The statement added that operations against “foreign-backed terrorism” would continue with full intensity as part of ongoing efforts by security forces and law enforcement agencies.
