  "textContent": "By: Abid Shigri and Hussain Ahmad\n\nSHIGAR/CHILAS: Election campaigning for the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections entered its final phase on Thursday, with candidates making a last push to win over voters before campaigning officially ends at midnight.\n\nPolitical parties and independent candidates remained actively engaged in rallies, corner meetings and public outreach efforts across Shigar, as the contest entered its final and most crucial stage ahead of polling on June 7.\n\nDoor-to-door campaigns continued throughout the constituency, with candidates seeking to mobilise supporters and persuade undecided voters before the election silence period comes into effect.\n\nAuthorities said all preparations for polling have been completed in the district. A total of 71 polling stations have been set up, with election officials finalising arrangements to ensure a smooth voting process.\n\nAccording to officials, 17 polling stations have been classified as highly sensitive, while 26 have been declared sensitive.\n\nTo strengthen security, additional personnel from the Pakistan Army and Sindh Police have been deployed across the area. Security measures are being tightened as campaigning draws to a close and polling day approaches.\n\nThe GBA-12 Shigar constituency is expected to witness a competitive contest, with nine candidates in the race for the assembly seat.\n\nOfficials said strict implementation of the election code of conduct will begin once campaigning ends at midnight, with all candidates and political parties required to comply with election regulations during the silence period.\n\n## Campaign activities continue peacefully across region\n\nMeanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan Police said the overall law and order situation across the region remains satisfactory and fully under control as electioneering reaches its peak.\n\nAccording to police figures, a total of 614 political activities have been held across Gilgit-Baltistan since May 1 in a peaceful environment.\n\nThese include 62 large public gatherings, 217 public meetings and inauguration ceremonies, 243 election offices established by political parties and candidates, and 92 political rallies.\n\nThe police urged citizens to demonstrate responsibility, tolerance and respect for the law throughout the electoral process.
