"textContent": "ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended a ceremony marking the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States on Wednesday, reaffirming the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the United States and highlighting cooperation in trade, investment, security and regional peace.\n\nAddressing the event, the prime minister extended congratulations on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan to US President Donald Trump, the American administration and the people of the United States.\n\nShehbaz Sharif described America's history as a story of hope and enlightenment and noted that relations between Pakistan and the United States span more than eight decades. He recalled that the United States was among the first countries to recognize Pakistan after its creation and said both nations had worked together during some of the most significant periods in modern history.\n\nThe premier highlighted cooperation in counterterrorism, trade and investment, while praising the contribution of nearly one million Pakistani-Americans in strengthening ties between the two countries. He also noted that around 80 major American companies are operating in Pakistan and said the country possesses one of the world's largest freelance workforces.\n\nReferring to regional developments, the prime minister said President Trump’s timely intervention helped make a ceasefire possible between Pakistan and India. He expressed gratitude for the US president’s efforts in promoting peace in South Asia and said Trump would be remembered as a “man of peace.”\n\nShehbaz Sharif further said that Pakistan was playing the role of a sincere mediator between the United States and Iran and thanked both countries for their confidence and trust. He also commended Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his efforts in advancing regional peace and stability.\n\nSpeaking at the ceremony, US Charge d’Affaires Natalie Baker welcomed the prime minister and praised the strength of bilateral relations. She said the strategic partnership between the two countries was rooted in mutual interests and shared goals.\n\nBaker highlighted cooperation in visa services, trade, investment and security, and noted that Islamabad had hosted high-level talks between the United States and Iran. She said joint efforts in agriculture and industry were helping improve the lives of people in both countries.\n\nShe also praised Pakistan’s contribution to global sports, noting that footballs used around the world are manufactured in Pakistan.
