Deputy PM Ishaq Dar arrives in New York for UN Security Council engagements

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has arrived in New York on an official visit scheduled from May 26 to 28, the Foreign Office spokesperson said on Tuesday. During his stay, Dar will participate in a high-level discussion session of the United Nations Security Council. The meeting is expected to bring together senior global diplomats to deliberate on key international issues. According to the Foreign Office, the deputy prime minister will also hold bilateral meetings with foreign ministers from several countries as well as senior United Nations officials on the sidelines of the visit. These engagements are aimed at strengthening diplomatic coordination and discussing matters of mutual interest. Upon his arrival in New York, Ishaq Dar was received by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations along with the country’s Consul General in New York, the spokesperson added. Officials said the visit forms part of Pakistan’s continued engagement with the United Nations system and provides an opportunity to present the country’s position on key global and regional developments at a high-level forum.
