Massive fire erupts in Margalla Hills, over 100 firefighters battle blaze

A fire broke out at two different locations in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills, with the blaze erupting in forest areas near Trail Three and the Botanical Garden. More than 100 firefighters were immediately deployed to the emergency site soon after the incident was reported to the authorities and are now actively engaged in controlling the fire. Initial updates say that 55 personnel are taking part in the operation at the Botanical Garden site, while over 50 firefighters are deployed at Trail Three. Teams are working tirelessly to bring the fire under control, with expectations that it will be fully contained within the next one to two hours, CDA’s Director Environment Irfan Niazi said. However, officials warn that the fire may spread further due to intense heat and dry weather conditions. Meanwhile, all Margalla hiking trails have been temporarily closed as a precautionary measure. The district administration has urged citizens to avoid visiting the area until the situation is fully under control, assuring that the blaze will be contained soon.
