"textContent": "EDINBURGH: Former Scottish National Party chief executive Peter Murrell has admitted to fraud involving more than £400,000 during a court hearing in Scotland.\n\nMurrell, the estranged husband of former Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon, pleaded guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh and was remanded in custody.\n\nThe charges against the 60-year-old stem from allegations that he used party funds to illegally purchase luxury goods, jewellery, cosmetics, two cars and a motorhome.\n\nDuring the hearing, Murrell admitted to embezzling £400,310.65 between August 12, 2010 and October 19, 2022.\n\nMurrell, who served as chief executive of the SNP for more than two decades, now faces the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence.
