Following the Quetta blast on May 24 which claimed more than 12 lives, political leaders across Balochistan have condemned the tragic event, calling it a cowardly attack on civilians and reaffirming their collective resolve to eliminate terrorism from the province. In their separate statements, leaders said the targeting of innocent passengers, including women and children, reflects a deliberate attempt to spread fear and destabilise peace in the region. They stressed that such attacks are not only against humanity but also an assault on local traditions, national values and social harmony. Member of the National Assembly Nawabzada Jamal Raisani said attacking passengers travelling during holiday season was a violation of basic human norms and an attack on the cultural and social fabric of Balochistan. He added that the people of the province stand united against extremist elements and will continue resisting violence in all forms. Senator Dinesh Kumar said the people of Balochistan are standing “like a steel wall” against terrorism, adding that those involved in killing innocent civilians have no place in society. He reiterated that political leadership fully supports security forces in their efforts to restore peace. Provincial leader Rabia Baledi described the attack as a cowardly act and expressed condolences with the bereaved families, while praying for the swift recovery of those injured. Member of the National Assembly Mian Khan Bugti said the attack, including incidents targeting the Jaffar Express and civilians, showed the brutality of those responsible for such violence. Another provincial figure, Mir Zafarullah Khan Zehri, stressed such attacks were carried out to serve external interests and undermine stability in the province. The leaders collectively reaffirmed that Balochistan’s political leadership stands united with the state and security forces against terrorism, vowing that perpetrators of attacks on civilians will be brought to justice.
