KARACHI: A Karachi court on Friday sent alleged drug suspect Anmol alias “Pinky” on judicial remand in narcotics and murder-related cases, as proceedings continued in one of the city’s most high-profile criminal investigations.
Police produced the accused under tight security at the judicial complex inside Central Jail Karachi, where investigators from multiple police stations briefed the court on ongoing inquiries and said further evidence was being collected.
During hearing, investigators informed the court that progress had been made in the inquiry, while the judge directed police to submit charge sheets in the relevant cases.
Police said the accused was earlier produced in connection with 18 cases for remand proceedings
The case has drawn repeated court appearances in recent weeks, with earlier hearings marked by tense exchanges, allegations of mistreatment in custody and commotion inside court premises, according to prior proceedings and media reports.
In earlier appearances, the suspect has accused investigators of torture and coercion, allegations which police have denied while seeking further remand to complete their probe into what officials describe as a wider narcotics network operating across Karachi.
Police previously said multiple narcotics and related cases are registered against the accused across different police stations, with investigations also focusing on alleged supply chains, financial links and other associates.
