"textContent": "ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has dismissed all complaints filed against Chief Justice Yahya Afridi as baseless, according to an official statement issued after its May 14, 2026 meeting.\n\nThe council released a summary of the complaints and its decisions after Chief Justice Afridi gave his assent to make the proceedings and outcomes public.\n\nAccording to the statement, the SJC unanimously rejected all petitions, including multiple complaints alleging misconduct and procedural irregularities.\n\nOne complaint filed by advocate Mian Sibghatullah Shah alleged irregularities in the 2016 appointment process of additional sessions judges during Justice Afridi’s tenure at the Peshawar High Court. The council dismissed the complaint.\n\nAnother petition, filed by Karachi resident Amjad Hussain Durrani, was also rejected.\n\nThe complainant had alleged misconduct related to a Supreme Court bench decision in January 2022, which he claimed was issued without hearing his plea.\n\nThe SJC further dismissed a complaint filed by Lahore-based advocate Ajmal Mahmood, who had challenged restrictions on his entry to the Supreme Court and its branch registries.\n\nA separate complaint by Karachi resident Kamran Khan was also rejected. He had alleged unlawful dismissal of a previous complaint by the council.\n\nThe council also turned down a petition filed by Muhammad Asif Masood, a resident of Burewala in Vehari district, who had challenged a March 2023 Supreme Court bench decision in a civil appeal.\n\nThe SJC said that all complaints were found to be without merit and were unanimously dismissed.\n\nThe post SJC dismisses multiple complaints against Chief Justice Yahya Afridi appeared first on HUM News English.",
