"textContent": "Warning: Spoilers ahead for _The Boys_ finale.\n\nAfter years of violence, manipulation and near-total control, Homelander finally dies in the finale of _The Boys_.\n\nThe Prime Video series answers one of fans’ biggest questions in its final episode, bringing an end to the terrifying Supe after a brutal confrontation with Billy Butcher that had been building since the show first premiered.\n\nBut Homelander’s downfall comes with a twist.\n\nIn the finale, Kimiko strips Homelander of his powers using radiation, leaving the once-unstoppable villain vulnerable for the first time. With the balance of power finally shifted, Butcher seizes the moment and kills his longtime enemy with a crowbar in one of the series’ bloodiest moments.\n\nThe scene marks the end of one of television’s darkest rivalries, but it was not a last-minute decision.\n\nSpeaking to _Variety_ , series creator Eric Kripke revealed that Butcher killing Homelander had been part of the plan for years.\n\n“We 100% knew that Butcher was going to kill Homelander with a crowbar,” Kripke said, adding that while some details changed over time, the ending itself remained clear.\n\nOne of the finale’s biggest talking points, however, was not simply Homelander’s death, but how it happened.\n\nAfter losing his powers, the once-feared Supe begs Butcher for mercy, a moment that surprised some viewers given Homelander’s ruthless image throughout the series.\n\nKripke defended the decision, arguing that powerful figures often fall apart once stripped of control.\n\n“If you go through history, most strong men, when they’re finally dragged in front of some form of justice, immediately break down,” he said.\n\nHomelander was not the finale’s only major death. After finally defeating his greatest enemy, Butcher is later killed by Hughie, who stops him from unleashing a virus capable of wiping out all Supes.\n\nAlthough _The Boys_ has now ended, Kripke hinted the wider universe may continue through future stories linked to _Gen V_ and other spin-offs.\n\nFor a character who spent years believing himself untouchable, Homelander’s story ultimately ended in the one way he feared most: powerless.\n\nThe post Homelander death explained after brutal ‘The Boys’ finale appeared first on HUM News English.",
