WEB DESK: A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck the Turkey–Syria border region on Wednesday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said, with tremors felt across a wide area on both sides of the frontier. Shaking from the quake was reported across several towns and cities in the border region, with seismic waves extending into surrounding areas due to the region’s complex and heavily faulted geology.
