  "textContent": "HBO’s television adaptation of  _Harry Potter_ is facing an early casting shake-up after actor Gracie Cochrane exited the role of Ginny Weasley following the completion of season one.\n\nCochrane, who plays Ron Weasley’s younger sister in  _Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone_ , will not return for the second instalment after stepping away due to what her family described as “unforeseen circumstances”.\n\nThe news was first reported by Deadline, which said HBO’s recently renewed series is expected to begin production on season two in the autumn.\n\nIn a statement shared with media outlets, Cochrane’s family described the decision as difficult.\n\n“Due to unforeseen circumstances Gracie has made the challenging decision to step away from her role as Ginny Weasley in the HBO  _Harry Potter_ series after season one,” the statement said.\n\nThe family added that Cochrane’s time in the  _Harry Potter_ world had been “truly wonderful”, while thanking casting director Lucy Bevan and the wider production team for the opportunity.\n\nHBO also confirmed the departure, saying it supported the decision and wished Cochrane and her family the best.\n\nThe recast comes at an important point for the story, with Ginny expected to take on a much larger role as the adaptation progresses.
