"textContent": "KARACHI: An alleged drug suspect, Anmol alias “Pinky”, was produced before a court at the Judicial Complex on Monday under tight security.\n\nPolice brought the suspect to the Judicial Complex in connection with a case filed at the Baghdadi police station pertaining to alleged drug use and murder\n\nThe accused was produced before a judicial magistrate under strict security, where police sought an extension in her physical remand.\n\nMedia persons and members of the public were barred from entering the court premises.\n\nDuring her appearance, the accused shouted upon seeing media persons, prompting police to move journalists away from the courtroom entrance and bring the situation under control.\n\nShe also allegedly issued threats to the investigating officer inside the courtroom.\n\nSpeaking informally to journalists, she claimed she had been subjected to violence in custody.\n\n“The SIO slapped me, and the IO threatened me and told me to name Muneeb Butt and Raja Pervez,” she alleged, adding that she had been detained for 20 days.\n\nHer lawyer, Liaquat Gabol, submitted a power of attorney in court during the proceedings.\n\nAt the start of the hearing, the investigating officer requested further physical remand of the suspect, stating that a murder case had been registered against her.\n\nAt the start of the hearing, the investigating officer requested further physical remand of the suspect, stating that a murder case had been registered against her.\n\nThe court later directed removal of media and the public from the courtroom, after which the hearing continued in-camera.\n\nSeparately, the court granted physical remand of the suspect till May 22 in a case registered at the SIU police station\n\nThe court extended her physical remand by two days in the Baghdadi police station murder case..\n\nIn two cases registered at Garden police station related to narcotics and illegal weapons, and in multiple cases registered at Gizri (six cases) and Darakhshan (five cases), the suspect was sent on judicial remand.\n\nIn a separate case registered at the Sachal police station, the suspect was sent on judicial remand by a Malir court.\n\nEarlier, “Pinky” was presented in a Karachi court where she told a magistrate that she had been tortured, falsely implicated and forced to name other individuals during interrogation.\n\nThe suspect was produced before a judicial magistrate in Karachi’s South district by police for a hearing related to narcotics and other cases, where investigators sought an extension of her physical remand.\n\nDuring the proceedings, Pinky told the court she had been subjected to abuse and held in custody for an extended period before being formally handed over to police.\n\n“I have been beaten. False cases have been registered against me. I have been treated unjustly,” she said in the court.\n\nThe magistrate intervened during her statement, advising her to remain calm and drink water, telling her that she was in a court where she would not be harassed.\n\nResponding to the judge’s questions, the suspect said that she had been detained for about 20 days and alleged that drugs had been planted on her.\n\n“They put bags of drugs on me,” she claimed, adding that she was brought by several individuals in a vehicle and handed over to police days later.\n\nShe further alleged that she was being pressured to name individuals suggested by investigators.\n\n“They are telling me to take the names they are giving me,” she said.\n\nThe court observed that no confessional statement was being recorded at this stage and directed officials to produce prior judicial orders for review.\n\nThe magistrate also asked the investigating officer about the progress of the probe and whether the suspect’s medical condition had been assessed.\n\nThe investigating officer told the court that multiple cases had been registered against the suspect and that narcotics were recovered based on her alleged identification.\n\nHe further said that she had recently been arrested after a long period and that investigations were ongoing in several cases.\n\nThe post Alleged drug suspect ‘Pinky’ creates commotion during court appearance appeared first on HUM News English.",
