"textContent": "ISLAMABAD: The Government of Pakistan has revised petroleum prices forwarded by the Petroleum Division of the country, announcing a fresh increase in both petrol and diesel, effective from May 1, 2026.\n\nPetrol price has been increased by around Rs7 per litre to make it Rs399.86 per litre from Rs393.35, according to a notification issued by the Ministery of Enegry.\n\nSimilarly, High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has also witnessed an increase of Rs19.39 per litre, taking its price up from Rs380.19 to Rs399.58 per litre.\n\nThe new petroleum prices will apply across the country from May 1, 2026.\n\nNow that the petrol prices have further been increased, a sharp jump in transport fares, logistics costs, and overall inflationary trends will also take place.\n\nThe fresh blow by the government will particularly affect the vehicles owing to their higher dependence on diesel in freight and agriculture sectors.\n\nMeanwhile, the All Pakistan Petroleum Pumps Owners Association (APPPOA) has strongly denied reports of a protest reportedly expected on May 1 amid volatile petrol prices. The APPPOA has said there is no truth in claims about petrol pump closures.\n\nAPPPOA Vice Chairman Nauman Ali Butt said that reports of a strike have no connection with the organisation and are purely baseless.\n\nThe association clarified that all petrol pumps across the country will remain open as per routine and continue to provide uninterrupted supply of petroleum products to the public.\n\nThe post Petrol prices in Pakistan increased by Rs7, diesel by Rs20 appeared first on HUM News English.",
