"textContent": "KARACHI: The Sindh government has issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the establishment of the Karachi Metropolitan University (KMU) School of Nursing, officials said on Thursday.\n\nThe provincial health department formally granted the approval, allowing the university to launch its nursing education programmes.\n\nHowever, final approval has been pending with the Pakistan Nursing & Midwifery Council for the past 18 months.\n\nUnder the NOC, the institution has been permitted to initiate a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programme and a Community Midwifery (CMW) diploma programme.\n\nThe approval follows recommendations of a relevant inspection committee that assessed the university’s infrastructure, academic standards and faculty strength.\n\nFinal approval, registration and oversight of academic standards for nursing education remain under the Pakistan Nursing & Midwifery Council, according to regulations.\n\nKarachi Metropolitan University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Wasim Qazi said the establishment of the nursing school reflected the university’s vision to provide modern, research-based healthcare education aligned with contemporary needs.\n\nHe said the initiative would help address the shortage of trained nursing and midwifery staff, adding that the university aimed to contribute to national development through expanded academic programmes in health and education.\n\nThe post Sindh govt issues NOC for KMU nursing school appeared first on HUM News English.",
