ISLAMABAD: The federal government announced a massive increase in petroleum prices, surging petrol price in Pakistan per litre to Rs458 while diesel per litre price in Pakistan to Rs520 due to tensions in the Middle East.
Transport operators across the country will now push fares higher for commuters. Buses, taxis, and ride-hailing services are likely to pass the increased fuel costs onto passengers, putting additional strain on everyday travelers.
Over the past month, petrol prices have already jumped by Rs63 per litre, reaching Rs321.17 from Rs258.17, while diesel climbed by Rs60.16 to Rs335.86 per litre. Analysts say that if the government proceeds with the new adjustments, this could mark one of the largest monthly increases in Pakistan’s recent history.
The ripple effect of rising fuel costs is expected to hit not only commuters but also businesses, as transportation and logistics expenses rise. Consumers are advised to prepare for higher fares and increased prices on goods and services in the coming weeks.
