Shawwal moon not sighted in Saudi Arabia, Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Friday

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Friday after the Shawwal moon was not sighted on Wednesday evening, officials confirmed. The government of Turkey announced on Wednesday that Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated nationwide on Friday, March 20. Similarly, Muslims in Singapore will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, March 21, according to Singapore authorities. The United Arab Emirates has also urged residents across the country to observe the crescent moon of Shawwal on the evening of Wednesday, March 18. The UAE Moon Sighting Committee will give a detailed review of whether Eid will be observed, with the expected time at 6.32 pm.
