"textContent": "Beach Boys legend Bruce Johnston is stepping back from touring after more than six decades on the road with the iconic band.\n\nThe 83-year-old musician confirmed the decision in a statement to _Rolling Stone_ , saying he plans to focus on songwriting and the next stage of his long music career.\n\n“It’s time for part three of my lengthy musical career,” Johnston said. “I can write songs forever, and wait until you hear what’s coming. As my major talent beyond singing is songwriting, now is the time to get serious again.”\n\n## A six-decade run with the Beach Boys\n\nJohnston joined the Beach Boys’ touring line-up in 1965, stepping in for co-founder Brian Wilson during live performances.\n\nHe went on to become a regular presence in the band’s live shows and has remained part of the touring line-up for decades.\n\nAlthough he is stepping away from full-time touring, Johnston suggested he still plans to stay active creatively.\n\n“I might even sing ‘Disney Girls’ and ‘I Write the Songs’,” he said, hinting at future performances and projects.\n\n## Not a full farewell\n\nDespite stepping back from the road, Johnston made it clear the move does not mark a final goodbye.\n\nHe said he hopes to reunite with the band for special occasions, including upcoming concerts at the Hollywood Bowl scheduled for July 2 to 4.\n\nThe shows are part of the Beach Boys’ 2026 tour celebrating the 60th anniversary of the band’s landmark album _Pet Sounds_ as well as the 250th anniversary of the United States.\n\n“This isn’t goodbye, it’s see you soon,” Johnston said. “I am forever grateful to be a part of the Beach Boys musical legacy.”\n\nThe post Beach Boys legend Bruce Johnston makes major touring announcement appeared first on HUM News.",
