"textContent": "Veteran actor Bruce Campbell has revealed he has been diagnosed with cancer, describing the condition as “treatable, not curable”.\n\nThe 67-year-old star, best known for the _Evil Dead_ franchise and his appearances in the _Spider-Man_ films, shared the news with fans in a post on X on Monday.\n\n> pic.twitter.com/xnBYzY4wsS\n>\n> — Bruce Campbell (@GroovyBruce) March 3, 2026\n\n\n\n\n“Hi folks, these days, when someone is having a health issue, it’s referred to as an ‘opportunity’, so let’s go with that, I’m having one of those,” Campbell wrote. “It’s also called a type of cancer that’s ‘treatable’, not ‘curable’. I apologise if that’s a shock, it was to me too.”\n\nThe actor said the announcement was intended to get ahead of possible misinformation and to explain upcoming changes to his professional schedule.\n\n“The good news is, I’m not gonna go into any more detail,” he wrote. “I’m posting this because professionally, a few things will have to change. Appearances and fan conventions and work in general need to take a back seat to treatment.”\n\nCampbell added that he hopes to recover sufficiently to promote his upcoming film _Ernie & Emma_ later this year.\n\nHe emphasised that he was not seeking sympathy, writing: “I’m not trying to enlist sympathy, or advice. I just want to get ahead of this information in case false information gets out.”\n\nCampbell rose to cult fame with Sam Raimi’s 1981 horror classic _The Evil Dead_ , later reprising his role as Ash Williams in _Evil Dead II_ and _Army of Darkness_. He also appeared in Raimi’s _Spider-Man_ trilogy, the cult favourite _Bubba Ho-tep_ , and led the television spin-off _Ash vs Evil Dead_ , cementing his status as a genre icon.\n\nIn addition to his screen work, Campbell chronicled his Hollywood career in his 2002 autobiography _If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor_.\n\nThe post ‘Evil Dead’ icon Bruce Campbell shares cancer battle in candid health update appeared first on HUM News.",
