The world recently experienced the March equinox. Here are some photos from around the world during the months of March and April, with thanks to the many people who contributed the content that appears here.

Northern hemisphere

  • This sunrise photo from User:N509FZ was taken at the Honghe Hani Rice Terraces in the Yunnan province of China in March 2021.

  • "Spring Equinox celebrations in Vilnius, Lithuania", seen in a photo from User:Anaiptol, March 2008

  • Baseball games commonly start happening in the spring. The baseball "season" continues into summer and fall. This photo is from User:Olsin.se.

  • At Chichen Itza in Yucatán state, Mexico, a "descent of the snake" effect may be observed around the time of spring and fall equinoxes. This photo is from User:ATSZ56.

  • "April showers bring May flowers", part 1. In this photo by User:Smalljim, we see a "snow shower approaching on Dartmoor, Devon, England" in March 2010.

  • "April showers bring May flowers", part 2. This variety of hybrid tea rose is known as "Ingrid Bergman". The photo was taken in West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland, by User:Salicyna, in May 2019.

  • For some people, pollen in spring air triggers their allergies. This photo which shows a lab for allergy tests was uploaded by User:GeeJo from United States Air Force archives.

  • Some countries have important tax dates in the spring. This image of a tax stamp was uploaded by User:Mikhail Ryazanov.

  • Passover Seder plates seen in Budapest, Hungary, photographed by User:TZivyA. Passover is a Jewish religious holiday which occurs in March or April in the Gregorian calendar.

  • March 2016 celebration of Basanta Utsab at Jorasanko Thakur Bari, West Bengal, India, in a photo by User:Partho72. Basanta Utsab is the local name for the Hindu religious festival of Holi.

Near the equator

  • An Eid al-Fitr celebration in Ghana, seen in an April 2024 photo by User:Pambelle12. Eid al-Fitr is a Muslim religious holiday.

  • An Easter candle in Ibaan, Batangas, the Philippines. The photo was taken by by User:LMP 2001 in March 2024. Easter is a Christian religious holiday, although in some areas it is heavily secularized, similar to Christmas.

  • In Valparaíso, Chile, on certain dates near the equinoxes, the sun rises aligned with Aconcagua. On April 22, 2025, a solar pillar enhanced this phenomenon, creating a luminous image resembling a volcano eruption. This photo is by User:Kinosmosis.
