1. Choosing Keeping
Great stationery shops are few and far between in London. Choosing Keeping is not the place you go for a ream of paper and some staples, it’s the place you go for the best notebook you’ve ever used, an unusual bottle of ink, or a glass dip-pen.

2. Renate Reinsve
The Worst Person In The World prompted the hypothesis, Sentimental Value (now available in the UK on Mubi) proved it: Renate Reinsve is the best actress alive in the world today.
3. The Hour of the Predator
Speaking of the worst people in the world, this book is a a short, sharp shock on the state of geopolitics today. Da Empoli is an ex-diplomat who creates evocative sketches of life inside the UN building, and details how monstrous autocrats get away with it. As a side note, you will never use Waze again.
The Hour of the Predator‘The Hour of the Predator’ is a timely and incisive examination of the shifting power dynamics in global politics, where traditional governments find themselvesBlackwell'sGiuliano Da Empoli (author), Sam Taylor (translator)
4. Obsidian
I'm re-visiting Obsidian, because between the Notebook Navigator plugin and Obsidian's new databases, the whole eco-system feels fresh again. I have over 4,000 notes in this thing, so I can never stay away for long. As a world-building tool, it still takes a lot of beating.

5. William Hannah notebooks
I've mentioned these before, but I blew the dust off mine when I started taking French lessons a few weeks ago. Now I have one for those lessons and one set up as a desk-pad. The paper is great, and can be re-filed at will. William Hannah is a family-run business and their attention to detail and level of customer service is second to none.
