Mathieu van der Poel might retire after the 2028 Olympics

As soon-to-be-father Mathieu van der Poel gears up for his sixth Tour de France start, the Alpecin-Premier Tech star is contemplating his future – and that future may include retirement within the next few years.

As Het Nieuwsblad reports, Van der Poel said in a pre-Tour interview that he will soon start to focus on the mountain bike ahead of the 2028 Olympics. After that, he might consider calling it a career.
