Push button, lube chain: the clever auto-luber in use at Unbound

Gravel has opened many new doors for lovers of bike tech and Unbound is somewhat like Disneyland for those into it.

So far we’ve seen the new Specialized Crux, Scott’s 32er prototype, and sightings of a new Giant Revolt. We’ve also looked at a fun trail scraping gadget from Wheels Manufacturing, and you can bet more will come.

However, amongst the new production stuff sits a deeper level of bike nerd - the tinkerer. These riders, mechanics, and/or engineers are often seeking marginal gains through creativity, building one-off solutions to some unique problem. One such example was the syringe-based chain luber that Andrew “Lespy” L’Esperance used in last year’s edition of Unbound. This year, the idea of more easily lubing a chain on the fly has been taken up a few levels.
