Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) went into Thursday's stage 6 of the Giro d'Italia as a favorite for the win, but in the end he did not actually contest the expected sprint as he was caught behind a crash in the final hairpin on wet, cobbled roads. In the aftermath of the stage, won by Davide Ballerini of XDS-Astana, Milan made it clear that he was not thrilled with the course design. "I really don't get why we have to find these complicated finishes, I really don't get it," he said. "For sure we could think it could rain and we need to be safe, some years ago it could go to a straight but no, with two drops of water, we had a huge mess." "I am just disappointed as I was in a good position, in good shape, I'm feeling good, but they try to look for these things for a bit of hype sometimes," he continued. "I really don't get it."
