"textContent": "Enve\n\nEnve has launched a new range of wheels under the G SES banner. As the SES name suggests, these are the brand’s top-tier performance wheels, while the “G” designation signals their focus on gravel racing.\n\nHeadlining the launch is the G SES 6.7 Pro: a gravel wheelset with a 60 mm (front) and a 67 mm (rear) rim depth – which makes them illegal for any UCI-sanctioned gravel races – flanked by a more conventional race wheelset in the G SES 4.5 Pro and G SES 4.5, which both sport 49 mm (front) and 55 mm (rear) rim profiles.\n\nAs gravel becomes increasingly professionalised, race speeds continue to climb. Last year’s Unbound 200, for instance, was won at an average speed of 37.8 km/h (23.5 mph) – an astounding speed for an event of that distance raced over unpaved roads. But at the same time as speeds are increasing, tyre widths at the sharp end of the sport have ballooned from the sub-40 mm rubber once considered wide to choices that are now borrowed from the mountain bike world.\n\n24 mph and 295 watts for 8 hours: Inside the unbelievable ride that won Unbound 200Cameron Jones didn’t just break the Unbound 200 record, he obliterated it. Here’s how he rode away from everyone and rewrote what’s possible in gravel racing.Escape CollectiveAlex Hunt\n\nEnve says the new wheels were developed around the idea that modern gravel riders are now travelling fast enough, on wide enough tyres, for aerodynamics to become a major performance differentiator.\n\n## G SES 6.7 Pro\n\nAccording to the brand, the 6.7 Pro is the result of several years spent investigating how to aerodynamically optimise a gravel wheel-and-tyre system when designed around modern high-volume treaded tyres. Rather than adapting an existing road rim, Enve says the wheel was developed specifically around modern gravel racing, where 44-52 mm tyres and high average speeds require different solutions to either road or mountain bike wheels.\n\nWhile the 60/67 mm hookless rims are deep for gravel, it is the 35 mm internal width that really catches your eye. That's a contrast to what we have typically seen from most brands, where 25 mm or a little wider – like Hunt's 40 Limitless Gravel Aero wheelset – has become the sweet spot. Even many XC mountain bike rims have settled on 30 mm rim widths, with the likes of Specialized deciding on 28.5 mm for its Roval Control World Cup wheelset.\n\n### This post is for subscribers only\n\nBecome a member to get access to all content\n\nSubscribe now",
