'Dream big, regret bigger': The Great Glizzy Gauntlet is not your average fondo
Jacob Powers, McKinley Marx, Brandon Mills
“I only saw two people throw up,” said Leopold Marx, reflecting on the success of his bike ride, the first ever Great Glizzy Gauntlet, which took place the first weekend of May in Salt Lake, Utah.
To learn of the Great Glizzy Gauntlet is to love it. It is an idea so deranged, so wildly impractical and – from an outsider’s perspective – so incredibly, incredibly American, that you cannot help but pay attention.
I first heard about it on the xbiking subreddit. Someone had seen a poster for the ride promising “wholesale suffering” and inciting participants to “dream big, regret bigger." The redditor dubbed it their “new holy grail ride."
