Wiebes takes third consecutive victory at In Flanders Fields-In Wevelgem
Cor Vos
Lorena Wiebes started In Flanders Fields-In Wevelgem as the out-and-out favourite to take a third consecutive win in Wevelgem. The Dutch rider had lost a sprint for the first time since August 2024 on Thursday at Ronde van Brugge and went into the race on Sunday with fire in her belly.
UAE Team ADQ tried to get rid of the SD Worx-Protime rider, but they didn't stand a chance, and Wiebes won the race ahead of Fleur Moors and Karlijn Swinkels from a five-rider selection that went clear on the final ascent of the Kemmelberg.
- Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime)
- Fleur Moors (Lidl-Trek)
- Karlijn Swinkels (UAE Team ADQ)
- Elise Chabbey (FDJ United-Suez)
- Eleonora Gasparrini (UAE Team ADQ)

Wiebes remains unmatched once she opens her sprint, but her ride on Sunday was next level.
How it happened
- A breakaway of four spent some time off the front early in the race, but a move with 83 km to go coaxed out a group of eight riders who threatened the race overall. The attackers included Lauretta Hanson of Lidl-Trek, Franziska Koch of FDJ United-SUEZ, and Georgia Baker of Liv AlUla Jayco.
- They were soon joined by the considerable threats of Elisa Balsamo (Lidl-Trek) and Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime), who swiftly shut down the move nine kilometres later.

- Meanwhile, the breakaway of four continued to chip away ahead of the race with a two-minute advantage with 70 km remaining.
