"textContent": "_Hand written text by the Author, 1988_\n\n* * *\n\nToday I discovered I Write Like, a browser-based Markdown text editor from Koding Robots doo.\n\nApparently, I write like …Corey Doctorow. This is obviously not a comment on my use of expletives!\n\nI Write Like is free to use in your browser, with a one-time payment for premium features. Thank you, Koding Robots, for not using the subscription model.\n\nHere is a bit about the _I Write Like_ app, in the words of one of the developers who was kind enough to answer my questions.\n\n> Initially, in 2010, [IWL] was just a writing analyzer. 14 years later, we decided to make it into a full-featured Markdown editor to free writers from Word domination :)\n>\n> How is it different from others:\n>\n> * Opens in the browser and doesn’t need signing in: just navigate and type (no accounts at all).\n>\n> * Lots of tools for text analysis and transforms.\n>\n> * Better typewriter mode than the rest.\n>\n> * You can import and export Word documents.\n>\n\n>\n> It’s a web app that works completely client-side in the browser and doesn’t send anything to the server: your texts are stored in your browser, not on our servers.\n>\n> * Can it edit locally stored files?\n> Yes: directly in desktop Chrome or with our Mac app. In other browsers, you can open and then “download” files to save.\n>\n> * Can it save .md as well as .txt?\n> By default, IWL uses the .txt extension, but you can change it to .md or .markdown in settings.\n>\n>\n\n\nSo, who do you write like? Find out here.\n\n* * *\n\n_💬 I love to hear from readers! email hello at ellanew dot com or message me on Mastodon or Bluesky. Follow my RSS feed, or sign up to receive a weekly plain text themed email._\n\nIf you’ve found value here I invite you to share this post with someone you think will appreciate it, or make a contribution to my support jar.",
