I fell out of love with it later when gangsta rap took over.\n\nAmong my favorite hip-hop bands are the **Beastie Boys** , who wrote amazing music without taking themselves seriously while still avoiding falling into the trap of being a comedy act. They loved joking around but were also respected as one of the best hip-hop bands. They were also one of the most popular hip-hop bands, probably because their positive attitude appealed to everyone.\n\nAs you may know, I talk about them in the past tense because sadly, they disbanded in 2012 after Adam \"MCA\" Yauch passed away from cancer.\n\nReleased in 1994, \"**_Sabotage_** \" is one of the Beastie Boys' most famous songs. It's one of those songs that has become almost impossible to listen to without watching its music video, a Spike Jonze masterpiece. For those of you who are younger, the entire video is basically a parody and homage to 1970s cop shows. Its cultural impact is so significant that it inspired humor and comedians in the late 1990s and beyond.\n\nBut enough talkāit's time to let you (re)discover \"**_Sabotage_** \" by the **Beastie Boys**.\n\nThis video became so popular that it was released for purchase in different video formats, such as VHS and later DVDs, and it spawned its own line of merchandise, including action figures and more.\n\n## Sign up for Liminal Web\n\nMusic, Japan, art, islands, France, the internet, and the rest...\n\nSubscribe\n\nEmail sent!
