"textContent": "\"Good things come to those that wait.\"\n\n\"Rome wasn't built in a day.\"\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou pick the saying that you want, I like the article title as I can remember my Dad saying it.\n\n\n\n\nI'm sure you know what it all means, however we can always get a tad jittery when it's not in our grubby hands immediately. \"I've ordered it so where is it?\"\n\n\n\n\nOur lives have absolutely grown more instant and therefore quicker. We can watch anything we want when we want, we have music at our fingertips, we have libraries online with everything you've ever want to read.\n\n\n\n\nIt takes time to make all those movies, tunes, and novels though. If we demand them to be made available quicker then quality drops.\n\n\n\n\nMike the past Project Manager here for a few moments. With every project you ask the person wanting it delivered where the wiggle room is. Is it _scope_ (what needs be delivered), _quality_ (does it have to be gold quality), or _cost_ (can we spend anything we want). Two of these are likely to be fixed, normally cost and often quality, which means scope is flexible. If anyone tells you all three are fixed, walk away, it's a failed project.\n\n\n\n\nAnother attribute, often missed, is _time_ , how long have we got to bring this project home?\n\n\n\n\nImagine you're a chef, the project is to create that perfect meal, I'm thinking quality and cost are fixed, scope might be have a wee bit of wiggle but mostly it's time. If it's good people will wait, not forever, but they will wait. If you're at McDonalds time, scope, cost are fixed, the quality is what it is, low.\n\n\n\n\nSo, if you want a quality item (and you do), then waiting is fine, it takes time to create, so chill out and cut the creater some slack, be that a chef, writer, painter, or carpenter.\n\n\n\n\nOh, and if you are a chef, take your time, we'll wait.\n\n(subscribe/RSS)",
