Marc Márquez was back from shoulder surgery after missing Barcelona. And Cal Crutchlow is back after missing, well, the last five seasons, with the exception of a couple of races in 2021 replacing Franco Morbidelli, and a wildcard at Motegi in 2023.\n\nIt is good to have both riders back, for different reasons. Marc Márquez, because he remains MotoGP's biggest superstar, with a record that speaks for itself. And Cal Crutchlow, because he is a massive personality, something that MotoGP has missed since the retirements of Valentino Rossi and Crutchlow. Both riders crossed language barriers to reach fans outside the sport.\n\nAll eyes were on the return of Marc Márquez, and whether he can have an impact on the championship. The Ducati Lenovo rider downplayed his chances, as is his custom. \"If I'm here it's because I feel like I can finish the whole weekend. Not with the maximum intensity, obviously. I need to start step by step\" he said.\n\n**Cautious recovery**\n\nMárquez had appeared in a walking boot, but the fractured foot would not be an issue, he insisted. \"It's peanuts. It's nothing that will have a limitation.\" What he saw as a limiting factor was his shoulder.
