Neil Morrison: Fabio Di Giannantonio And Alex Marquez - Kurious (about) Oranj
Alex Marquez had the ride of the day on Sunday. But Fabio Di Giannantonio had the line. The pair had been put on the spot in the post-race press conference on the chances of becoming team-mates at KTM in the future. While admitting it was nice to “have a lot of teams that want me,” the Italian sought to calm such talk.
“We should focus a little more on what we’re doing on track,” Di Giannantonio reasoned. “Imagine how bad it is if I say (I’m going to) another place and now I go to the garage and have to do a party with the team. It’s not that nice. So, let’s keep focus on racing at the moment.”
Even if it came after a remorseless 25-lap race that stretched out like an all-day party at the in-laws, it was a fair point. There wasn’t a great deal to set the pulse racing in Sunday’s MotoGP encounter. But the younger Marquez’s most convincing MotoGP victory to date, plus a continuation of Di Giannantonio’s solid early season form, suggested Ducati’s revival has two unlikely leaders.
