"textContent": "MotoGP Grand Prix Commission Bans Wildcards, Cotinues Tire Pressure Monitoring For 2027\n\nThe Grand Prix Commission - MotoGP's rule making body consisting of representatives from MSEG (ex-Dorna), the FIM, the MSMA, and IRTA - have agreed to abolish wildcard entries from 2027. And to close a potential rules loophole, they have also banned any wildcard entries in 2026 using 850ss 2027 machines.\n\nThe banning of wildcards is presumably a harbinger of the arrival of permanent replacement riders. MSEG wants manufacturers to keep a replacement rider under contract, so that they have someone to substitute for the absence of an injured rider.\n\nBut this also causes complications for MotoGP's concession rules. One of the concessions the factories have is the use of wildcards, which many manufacturers have put to good use. Lorenzo Savadori and Augusto Fernandez spent the weekend of the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez preparing parts and setup for the test on Monday, accelerating the work of the contracted Aprilia and Yamaha riders at the test.\n\nDavid Emmett Thu, 30/Apr/2026 - 14:44\n\n * Read more about MotoGP Grand Prix Commission Bans Wildcards, Cotinues Tire Pressure Monitoring For 2027\n * Log in or register to post comments\n\n",
